Thank you Debbie Grisdale for organizing this event and to Earl Turcotte for pointing out some of the history of the danger of nuclear war to our civilization. Earl is the Steering Committee Member for The Canadian Network to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.
Bill Bhaneja of the Canadian Dept. of Peace Initiative reminded everyone of the forthcoming 13th Annual Ottawa Peace Festival 2019 in September and early October.
For a general calendar of Ottawa peace see Peter Stockdale's Facebook site.
For the sake of humanity, let's do our part to prevent a nuclear war (or any war) from happening on Planet Earth.

A Summer Meeting to discuss and plan:
Renewing the Peace Movement in Ottawa,
the situation in Iran and Nocansec2020
Where: Friends House - 91A Fourth Avenue, Ottawa.
- Although it is midsummer and not everyone will be able to attend, the risk of war is increasing, especially in Iran and the mid-east. It is important, even urgent, that we begin to act as soon as possible to make our voice for Peace heard.
- Canada, through the Canadian Association for Defense and Security Industries (CADSI) and its annual arms and “security” trade show (CANSEC) continues to advertise and sell weapons of death and war. War making and weapons making, with the accompanying massive fossil fuel use and pollution, are a very significant part of the climate crisis the world faces.
- Canada has refused to sign the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. The risk from nuclear weapons is increasing with the US withdrawal from treaties and the accelerated “modernization” of nuclear weapons systems.
*Participants included members of Ottawa Quakers, Pacifi, Ottawa Peace Council, Voice of Women for Peace, NoWarPaix, Ottawa Raging Grannies, Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade, and others
